Hello, my name is Sophia. I have over a decade of experience studying piano and have completed the Certificate of Performance. I am currently preparing for my Associate Diploma (AMusA). My training has been shaped by several teachers from the Soviet piano tradition, which has provided me with a strong technical foundation and a deep commitment to expressive, nuanced playing.
I offer private piano lessons for children from beginner level through to Grade 5. Based in the Hills area, I’m available to travel to your home for lessons, providing a convenient and comfortable learning environment. My teaching approach is supportive and structured, aimed at fostering both technical confidence and a genuine love for music.
My son has been taking piano lessons in Epping for a few months, and the progress has been amazing. The teacher is incredibly patient and makes each lesson enjoyable, even when tackling new and challenging pieces. I love how each session is tailored to my child’s skill level, keeping him engaged and motivated. The instructor also gives clear guidance for practice at home, which makes learning much easier. My son looks forward to his lessons every week and often practices on his own. The combination of structured teaching and fun activities really helps him build confidence. These lessons have not only improved his piano skills but also fostered a real love for music. I couldn’t recommend this teacher enough for families in Epping.
My child has been attending piano lessons in Epping, and I am very impressed with the results. The teacher is extremely patient, professional, and skilled at making lessons enjoyable for kids. Every session is structured yet fun, with plenty of encouragement for small achievements. I appreciate the personalised approach, as the lessons are tailored to my child’s interests and learning pace. The teacher also provides practical practice tips, which makes learning at home much easier. My child has developed a real passion for piano and looks forward to lessons each week. I can already see improvement in technique and musical understanding. I highly recommend these piano lessons for any parent looking for nurturing and effective instruction in Epping.
My daughter has been taking lessons with this piano school for nearly a year now, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. She’s only 7, and the way the teacher connects with her is just fantastic. The lessons are always engaging, and the teacher has a great ability to make the material both fun and challenging. My daughter loves the way they mix learning new songs with games and exercises to help her improve her skills. I’m also impressed by the regular feedback we get as parents about her progress. She’s growing more confident in her playing and is even excited to perform for the family. It’s been a truly positive experience, and I highly recommend this studio to any parent looking for quality piano lessons for their kids!
I believe in building strong fundamentals—technique, expression, and musicianship—from the very beginning. Our teaching approach combines classical training with an encouraging, personalised environment to help each student grow with confidence.
Whether your child is just starting out or preparing for formal exams, we’re here to support their journey every step of the way—with patience, passion, and professionalism.
01.
Most children are ready to begin piano lessons around 5 to 7 years old, once they can recognize letters and numbers. However, every child is different — we also offer early beginner lessons for younger children who show musical curiosity and focus.
02.
The Beginner Level introduces the basics — how to sit correctly, use the hands properly, and recognize simple notes and rhythms.
Once your child is comfortable, they move on to Grade 1–3, where they start learning scales, playing short classical and modern songs, and reading more complex music.
Grades 4 and 5 help students develop performance confidence and advanced techniques for exams and recitals.
03.
Yes! Our lessons follow the AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) syllabus, and we can also prepare students for Trinity or ABRSM exams. This gives children clear goals, structured progress, and recognition for their hard work.
04.
Lesson lengths depend on your child’s level and attention span:
Beginner Level: 30 minutes
Grades 1–3: 30 to 45 minutes
Grades 4–5: 45 to 60 minutes
Shorter sessions keep younger students focused while ensuring steady progress.
05.
Yes, regular practice is important. A keyboard with full-sized, weighted keys is a great starting option. As your child progresses, an acoustic piano is ideal. Our teachers can suggest affordable options for beginners.
06.
Every child learns at their own pace, but on average:
Beginner to Grade 1: 6–12 months
Grades 1–3: 1 year per grade
Grades 4–5: 12–18 months per grade
Progress depends on consistent lessons and practice habits at home.
07.
Consistency matters more than duration. We recommend:
Beginners: 10–15 minutes a day
Grades 1–3: 20–30 minutes a day
Grades 4–5: 30–45 minutes a day
Daily practice helps build muscle memory, confidence, and enjoyment.
