Hello, my name is Sophia. I have over a decade of experience studying piano and have completed the Certificate of Performance. I am currently preparing for my Associate Diploma (AMusA). My training has been shaped by several teachers from the Soviet piano tradition, which has provided me with a strong technical foundation and a deep commitment to expressive, nuanced playing.
I offer private piano lessons for children from beginner level through to Grade 5. Based in the Hills area, I’m available to travel to your home for lessons, providing a convenient and comfortable learning environment. My teaching approach is supportive and structured, aimed at fostering both technical confidence and a genuine love for music.
My son started piano lessons in Pennant Hills with this teacher, and it’s been such a positive experience. He was nervous at first, but the friendly and encouraging approach quickly put him at ease. The lessons are well-structured yet fun, making it easy for kids to stay engaged. I love how the instructor adapts each lesson to my son’s pace and interests. He always comes home excited to practice what he learned. The teacher provides clear guidance for home practice, which really helps reinforce the lessons. I’ve noticed his confidence and skills growing week by week. I highly recommend these piano lessons to any parent looking for quality music instruction in a supportive environment.
We’ve been bringing our daughter to piano lessons in Pennant Hills, and it has been wonderful. She was a complete beginner, but the teacher’s patient and personalised approach made learning enjoyable from day one. The lessons are engaging and perfect for young learners, combining technique with fun musical activities. I also appreciate the clear communication and feedback after each session. My daughter is motivated to practice and shows steady improvement each week. She genuinely looks forward to her lessons and always shares what she has learned. These piano lessons have made music a joyful part of her life. I couldn’t be happier with the care and dedication provided by the instructor.
My daughter has been attending piano lessons in Pennant Hills for a few months now, and the results have been amazing. The teacher creates a friendly and supportive environment that makes learning piano enjoyable for kids. Each lesson is tailored to her skill level and progresses at a pace that keeps her confident. I really appreciate the attention to detail and how the instructor encourages her without any pressure. She loves the fun exercises and small performances included in the lessons. Home practice is now something she looks forward to, which shows how effective the teaching is. Her skills and enthusiasm for piano have grown tremendously. I highly recommend these lessons to any parent seeking a nurturing and engaging piano teacher.
I believe in building strong fundamentals—technique, expression, and musicianship—from the very beginning. Our teaching approach combines classical training with an encouraging, personalised environment to help each student grow with confidence.
Whether your child is just starting out or preparing for formal exams, we’re here to support their journey every step of the way—with patience, passion, and professionalism.
01.
Most children are ready to begin piano lessons around 5 to 7 years old, once they can recognize letters and numbers. However, every child is different — we also offer early beginner lessons for younger children who show musical curiosity and focus.
02.
The Beginner Level introduces the basics — how to sit correctly, use the hands properly, and recognize simple notes and rhythms.
Once your child is comfortable, they move on to Grade 1–3, where they start learning scales, playing short classical and modern songs, and reading more complex music.
Grades 4 and 5 help students develop performance confidence and advanced techniques for exams and recitals.
03.
Yes! Our lessons follow the AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) syllabus, and we can also prepare students for Trinity or ABRSM exams. This gives children clear goals, structured progress, and recognition for their hard work.
04.
Lesson lengths depend on your child’s level and attention span:
Beginner Level: 30 minutes
Grades 1–3: 30 to 45 minutes
Grades 4–5: 45 to 60 minutes
Shorter sessions keep younger students focused while ensuring steady progress.
05.
Yes, regular practice is important. A keyboard with full-sized, weighted keys is a great starting option. As your child progresses, an acoustic piano is ideal. Our teachers can suggest affordable options for beginners.
06.
Every child learns at their own pace, but on average:
Beginner to Grade 1: 6–12 months
Grades 1–3: 1 year per grade
Grades 4–5: 12–18 months per grade
Progress depends on consistent lessons and practice habits at home.
07.
Consistency matters more than duration. We recommend:
Beginners: 10–15 minutes a day
Grades 1–3: 20–30 minutes a day
Grades 4–5: 30–45 minutes a day
Daily practice helps build muscle memory, confidence, and enjoyment.
